Rebekah Hendricks dreams of a life far beyond her family’s farm in Oklahoma, and when dashing aviator Arthur Samson promised adventure in the big city, she is quick to believe he’s the man she’s meant to marry. While she waits for the Great War to end and Arthur to return to her so they can pursue all their plans, her mother’s sister falls ill. Rebekah seizes the opportunity to travel to Texas to care for Aunt Adabelle, seeing this chance to be closer to Arthur’s training camp as God’s approval of her plans. But the Spanish flue epidemic changes everything. Faced with her aunt’s death, Arthur’s indecisiveness, and four children who have no one else to care for them, Rebeka is torn between the desire to escape the type of life she’s always led and the unexpected love that just might change the dream of her heart.

At age forty-two, Allison Chamberlain is still making a half-hearted attempt to figure out what she wants to be when she grows up. Although she has been a pew-sitting member of a church for seven years, “prophet” has never been on the short list of possible careers. Then one Sunday Allison senses a divine nudge to buy a Harley motorcycle and go wherever it takes her. Soon she is wondering if she is called to present the reality of Christ to one of society’s darkest corners – and challenge her own church to look beyond their fears.

The first in a brave trilogy from seasoned writer Nancy Rue, The Reluctant Prophet shows how one person’s response to God’s call can change a community forever.

Have you ever been in a destructive pattern of behavior that you knew – if you did not change – would end up killing you?

A father at the age of nineteen, Jeremy Donovan couldn’t support his baby son, the baby’s mother or himself. At age twenty-one Jeremy suffered a brain aneurysm that nearly killed him. His life journey took him in and out of mental institutions, through attempted suicides, and finally to a rehab center where he came face-to-face with his loving Heavenly Father and his life was forever changed.

Ten years out of his drug addition, on the road to health and wholeness, Jeremy’s heart-desire is reach out a helping hand to others who are still in the pit of bondage.

In The Hard Way, Jeremy pours out his heart in order to tell his story as honestly and forthrightly as possible. “The pain I went through is worth it,” he says, “if that pain can help even one person out of their bondage.” Then he adds, “You don’t have to learn the hard way. Let The Hard Way supply you with the needed tools to break forever free!”

Is There Really a Fountain of Youth in Paradise?

Welcome back to Bright ‘s Pond, where strange happenings are afoot at the Greenbrier Nursing Home. Strange even for Bright ‘s Pond. The residents suddenly act like kids again riding trikes, climbing trees, and of all things falling in love. Some of the townsfolk blame it on the crooked new gazebo, or its builder, a quirky little man who quotes Don Quixote, collects water from the fountain at the Paradise trailer park, and disappears on a regular basis.

While Chief of Police Mildred Blessing investigates the mystery, Griselda and her friends deal with a luau Thanksgiving, preparations for the Christmas pageant, and maybe even an upcoming wedding. Only, in Bright ‘s Pond, nothing ever really goes as planned…

The order for the Bright’s Pond series is as follows:

This is how I "buy" most of my books for my Kindle. Inspired Reads has daily listings of free or deeply discounted Christian books — both fiction and non-fiction.

Such wonderful books today. I am counting on A Daily Dose of Determination to get me through three yard sales and out of my house by the end of the year. I am looking forward to The Reluctant Prophet because I love Nancy Rue 's books. The Hard Way looks like a struggle worth reading about since I know of a person struggling with a head injury. And last of all, Blame it on the Mistletoe, is written by the same author who wrote Charlotte Figg Takes Over Paradise, which I loved. Thank you so much!

John Debbie Sturdefant October 9, 2012 at 12:15 am

Thank you.
